Dornice Anthony Washington, 24

Dornice Anthony Washington, a 24-year-old black man, was fatally shot during a robbery attempt Sunday, Nov. 20, in the 1400 block of South La Cienega Boulevard in Pico-Robertson, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

The robbery attempt occurred about 8:45 p.m. at Smoke N' Gifts.

Washington, who was with another man, pointed a handgun at the owner, who then produced a weapon and shot him several times, said Lt. Andy Neiman of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Washington, of Los Angeles, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:51 p.m.

During the shooting, a customer was struck by gunfire and taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The other man was described as a black male of medium build, 20 to 26, about 6 feet and 160 to 180 pounds and wearing a dark hoodie, dark pants and white shoes.
