Man sentenced to 50 years to life in killing of 21-year-old
A 39-year-old black man was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison Thursday in the 2010 shooting death of another man in Vermont Slauson.
Ravanna Mohamed Bey was found guilty of first degree murder Jan. 27. Jurors also found true an allegation that he used a firearm to kill Jason Randle.
On Aug. 7, 2010, Bey was hanging out with friends outside an apartment complex off South Hoover Street when Randle, 21, walked by, according to a spokesman with the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Randle was a few feet from his front door when Bey shot him, prosecutors said. Randle was then shot again at “close range.”
It’s unknown whether the men exchanged words, prosecutors said.
