Manny Amaya, 24

Manny Amaya, a 24-year-old Latino, died Saturday, June 30, a day after he was shot near Heath Lane and Butler Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Officers responded to a call about a shooting June 29 about 7:30 p.m. When authorities arrived, they found Amaya and a 30-year-old Long Beach resident shot. Both were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Although Amaya was initially listed in critical condition, he succumbed to his injuries and died the next day. Coroner's records show he suffered gunshot wounds to his head and torso.

The second victim suffered non life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said that even though the victims were not gang members, it's believed the incident was gang-related.
