Manuel Gabriel Ayala, 38

Manuel Gabriel Ayala, a 38-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Wednesday, June 28, in the 1400 block of South Gibbs Street in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records. 

Pomona police responded about 11:30 p.m. to a call about an unresponsive man in a driveway, according to Sgt. Brian Hagerty. Once there, officers found Ayala with a gunshot to the stomach, Hagerty said. 

Ayala, who had been walking in the neighborhood, was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:52 p.m., according to coroner’s records. 

After the shooting, witnesses told detectives they saw a dark vehicle fleeing the area, Hagerty said.
