Marcel Dupre Johns, 28

Marcel Dupre Johns, a 28-year-old black man, was shot and killed Friday, June 27, in the 5600 block of Dairy Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Officers from the Long Beach Police Department responded about 2 a.m. to a report of gunshots in the area, according to a news release from the department.

Paramedics arrived and pronounced Johns dead at the scene at 2:19 a.m., said Ed Winter, a coroner’s spokesman.

Johns was riding a motorcycle when he was shot, which caused him to crash into multiple empty vehicles. Police did not provide suspect information.

Ms Moore, I just happen to be looking up someone and I came across this post I am a mom who has lost a son to two sick individuals I said the exact words I would never condone any of my kids going out taking a life I too sat thru a trial whereas one suspects mother waited for the elevator doors to almost close she called me the B word I'm guessing that she was angry that her son was fixing to spend the rest of his life in prison as I will never ever get to see my son again and I only have memories but she can always go and visit and hear those three words that I would give up everything I have to hear my child say mom I love you, he was only a baby this was three days before his 19th birthday Wow I feel every bit of your pain that you go thru from one mom to another I pray that your heart is healed as time goes on this is really a lot to carry around as I do so every day that I wake up. God bless you and your family may you find some kind of peace on this earth. Hi Ms. Moore My deepest condolence goes out to you, I feel every bit of your pain. I wish no death on anyone As African American we are already struggle and to add to the fuel we are dealing with black on black crime. police crime. I don't understand why we as a race can't or won't unite. like you I only have 1 son and worry day by day for his future to know that no matter how much I give it to god my worst fear is that some person would harm my child/teenager/adult. I am doing the best I can to raise my son right moved out of Los Angeles area and only to be forced to move back to the area due to circumstance beyond my control. No one seems to care about the people of American who is struggling to provide for their family and move into a decent area only to be forced out cause of economical factors.

as i sit here and see all this senseless killing going on --i find myself trying to reach out to others , death changes everyone and we as parents only want success for our children . i grew up in a time when we played freely -- walked to friends houses had house parties in compton , we as a community have to come together , life is not something to be taken for granted -- it is to lived freely . there really is no winner in my sons death or the trail of his killer we all loose, there is still two more guys that were there -- and other bullets from one of them , just because his wasnt the fatal bullet doesnt make him any less guilty -- can you imagine being shot 6 times while riding a motorcycle , i miss my baby so much !!!!! he was my only son !!!! i have one daughter as well -- i watched him grow -- walk -- talk -- be a boy -- a teen -- a young man -- and finally a man with kids and responsibilties-- i thank everyone for there memories or kind words-- lets all pray for a better day!!!

its been one year exactly since i lost my child and i guess i am one of the lucky moms -- his killer was caught , went to trail and was given the maxium sentence plus some --if left up to me i would have had him ride down a one way street with a firing squad on both sides . the death of my only son has affected me in so many ways --but at least i have some type of closure, the sad thing is when asked what was his motive for killing my son -- he said he didnt have a motive!!!!!!--he had no problems with my son -- didnt even know my son personally --all he knew was that my son was a cousin , so you kill a married man with three kids--this world is sick , after sitting through weeks of trail-never once did the killers family acknowledge me or my family --never once did his mom or family have any sympathy for me and mine .is this what the world is coming too-- me as a parent would never codon that from my child because the tables could have bee reversed-- the long beach police and especially detective lash were their for me 100%and the district attorneys closing statement was so heart felt-- thank you justice system

Its been 6 months since my only son was murdered and this pain and emptiness inside is hard to hide -- murder is wrong ,it never ends --its like and ongoing domino effect ,one falls the everything falls -- death will do two things show you who are your friends and who is your enemies,my son didnt deserve this --his children are without a father , he touched so many lives ,just when i think i can accept and move on something else happens, someone will stop me and ask how is my son then reality steps in one more time , every time i hear a motorcycle i think of my son , now on top of this someone broke into my home and stole personal items that mean so much to me ,i can never replace a video or a photo-- people are cruel-- but one thing i know for sure GOD will make a way and justice will be served-- the detectives working on his case are wonderful i thank god for them
