Marcus Andrew Davis, 23

Marcus Davis, a 23-year-old black man, was shot and killed Sunday, Oct. 31, in the 9700 block of Parmelee Avenue in Florence-Firestone, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Davis was visiting a home about 10:15 p.m. when two men knocked on the door and shot him through a screen, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.

Authorities were called, and Davis was taken to a hospital where he died 35 minutes later. According to coroner's records, he was shot several times.

Sheriff's homicide Det. Rich Ramirez, who is handling the investigation, said a witness described the assailants as black males.

Investigators are still trying to determine if the shooting was gang-related.
