A story for every victim

Margarita Burd, 60

Margarita Burd, a 60-year-old white woman, was found dead Tuesday, Jan. 9, in the 1300 block of North Poinsettia Place in Hollywood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Burd's husband, Makdon Michaelov, a 54-year-old white man, was mad at his wife because she refused to give him money for a trip to Israel, according to the Associated Press.

Michaelov allegedly stabbed Burd in the chest and set the couple's apartment on fire.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found Burd's body in the bathroom and Michaelov was taken into custody, according to coroner's records.

On April 12, Michaelov was convicted of second-degree murder and arson and sentenced to 23 years to life in prison.
