Maria Reyes, a 22-year-old Latina, was shot and killed Thursday, Aug. 5, in the 4800 block of Saint Charles Place in Mid-City, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Shortly after 11 p.m., a patrol unit was dispatched to investigate a gunshot call, according to an LAPD news release.

When officers arrived at the location, they found Reyes in her apartment dead. She had been shot several times, according to coroner's records.

Photo: Ignacio Perez, Credit: LAPD Since the shooting, authorities have identified Reyes' boyfriend as a person of interest in connection with her death.

Police are looking for Ignacio Perez and want to question him about the killing; however, investigators believe he may have fled to Mexico.

so, as i am looking on here and shaking my head at senseless murder, i am reading these comments that are not about how someone died who should not have died, but how we should be closing our borders because they are coming here and killing one another... well, frankly. you are all a bunch of fing idiots that dont think past your immediate interest and what you need in order to feel that you are safe in this country that you call yours.. violence is always going to happen when you mix poverty with riches, when there is the want behind the resentment of not having anger ensues and acts of violence occur, if you go to any city for example Detroit and you wonder why the crime rate is so high, it has nothing to do with illegal immigrants it has to do with the overwhelming poverty that is in an abundance and the fact that there are two sides to any big city and its divided by the haves and the have-nots and the have-nots are not for the most party happy people and they want.. they covet and want what the haves have and will do anything or walk over anyone to get it, but only to the other. they want to be part of the dream just like many american working poor do, they just want to feel like they are part of this American dream... they can be immigrants or 10th generation american.. if they feel that they are always looking up they will become resentful and angry.. mostly towards one another.
