Mariano Panduro Campos, 41
Mariano Panduro Campos, a 41-year-old Latino, was pronounced dead Tuesday, Feb. 20, after being shot in the 11000 block of Hampel Avenue in the Littlerock area of Northeast Antelope Valley, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Campos lived in one of four homes on a large lot in an isolated part of Littlerock and worked on cars out of his home, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza.
A family member went looking for Campos around 12:30 p.m. and found him and another man with gunshot wounds in a large metal work shed on Campos’ property, Mendoza said.
Campos and the other man, Gerardo De Luna, a 33-year-old Latino from Littlerock, were pronounced dead at the scene at 1:10 p.m., according to coroner’s records. Both had been shot multiple times.
Mendoza said Campos’ family member didn’t recognize De Luna, so it’s unclear how the two knew each other or why he was in the shed.
The shed appeared to have been ransacked, but Mendoza said investigators don’t know whether the shooting was part of a robbery.
“The motive is unknown, and it’s unknown how long they had been there,” the lieutenant said. “The shooting could have happened that morning, or the night before.”
