Marilyn Villatoro, 1 [Updated]
Marilyn Villatoro, a 1-year-old Latina, died Wednesday, Feb. 10, at a Long Beach hospital following an incident that occurred two days earlier in the 20th block of West Plymouth Street in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Authorities were called to a residence at about 3:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 8 to assist Fire Department paramedics with a baby that was unresponsive, according to a press release from the Long Beach Police Department.
Marilyn was transported to a local hospital and placed on life support. She died Wednesday, February 10 at approximately 4:45 p.m.
In the initial coroner’s report, Marilyn’s death was listed as a homicide and the cause of death was given as a cardiac arrest. However, Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office, said a final determination in her case has been deferred as the coroner's investigators perform additional tests.
