Mark Anthony Areas, a 21-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Thursday, April 13, in the 3500 block of Lanfranco Street in Boyle Heights, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 12:30 a.m., residents in the area heard gunfire and called police, Los Angeles Police Det. Jose Ramirez said.
When police arrived, they found Areas in the street, unresponsive.
Areas was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:49 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
