Mark Greene Jr., a 21-year-old black man, was shot to death Friday, July 27, in the 100 block of East Rosecrans Avenue in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Officials said they received reports of the shooting at approximately 4:10 p.m. and that Greene was pronounced dead at the scene soon after.

Coroner’s notes show that the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to contact the sheriff’s homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.

Your response has proved what I have been saying all along. As soon as they get money, they leave you sorry gang bangers in the dust. So they aren't doing any gang activity, because they don't need money, right? So that means gang members do gang bang to make money. More proof they are a bunch of lazy slobs who won't get a job or actually earn anything. Then they complain they had no choice and HAD to join a gang. Maybe if they got a job they would be too busy to gang bang, AND they would have money. But that's not good enough for them, right? Why earn it when you can just murder people and sell drugs for a living? If there are so many of these good gangsters giving back to the community, why does the hood still suck? Nothing has changed and it is getting worse. There are no good gangsters. Maybe there are gangsters all around you, not me. My friends and family are too busy working and making our own money to be in a gang. We take care of each other and have a nice place to live. I doubt the good gangsters you are speaking of would even want their bros coming over for dinner. So if they give something back it looks good to other gangsters? That's the dumbest thing I've read all day. What, they gave you a park and that's supposed to mean they care? As if. Looks to me like ya'll got played, and now you got served.

Ms. Lee you have a ignorant mind frame. You sound like a gangster yourself, Not all gangsters shoot. If they did the murder rate would be way more then what it is. Its gangsters all around us, not just in the Hood, smh wake up and smell the folders coffee. Not all kids join gangs and kill or commit crimes. What everyone is trying to tell ur dumb self is: gangsters with money or success don't need to commit crimes, for what? are u a idiot? who wants to go to jail when you are successful..Giving back to your community as a gangmember with money is the best thing you can ever do, (putting or upgrading a park in neioghborhood) and it gets respected by other gangsters, not all thugs misguide and manipulate the youth to kill. Some do, some don't that's life. Police know the members who belong to a gang and the members who carry guns and will kill. the gang cops already know the hardcore from the mediocre

Oh sure! Those NFL/NBA players are rep-re-sent-in'? Yea, cause as soon as they made it big, they came back and now they live in the hood, right? Like, I remember watching football this weekend and seeing them throw signs when they sacked the QB, did you see that? Remember the gang members sitting court side at Staples because their fellow gang members got tickets for them? Actually, if I were in that gang, I would be pissed off that they are NOT representing. What are they representing to the fullest? Are they going out, looking for rival gang members? Are they going out every day and collecting "taxes"? Are they jumping new members in? Nope. They got the heck out of there. Maybe they are saying they are in a gang to the right people just to save face. But no high level athlete is running around gang banging as a way to show his loyalty to his dumb gang. If he/she is, it's just a matter of time before they get caught.

All You outside the box Blogers will never know what its like to grow up or Live in the hood. Most my friends I grew up with as a child, spent the night with, jumped on roofs with, roller skated, video games, walked to school etc etc.. Stayed in my area, so when u get to the age 12-15 all it takes is 2 of your besfriends to join a gang before you decide to. Its gang members everywhere, not just in The city. Gang members are humans with regular jobs also, airport, mcdonalds, movies, warehouses, star bucks lol we rub shpoulders with gang members on the daily u will just never know. Most people look for colors, face tattoos,bandannas or obvious stuff and put them in the box. I know gang members that look like squares, no jail record nothing. Not all members kill or rob, I know of about 10 profesionals players nba/nfl who are in a gang right now from LA area, who have not killed a soul, but represent to the fullest still

I miss my Big Brother more than I could ever explain . No one could understand a broken heart like this unless you've been here . The men who killed him didn't only take his life they took my mine my mothers his neices his nephew that he never had the option of metting. Almost a year later and I still can't seem to except this the tears won't go away I can't even stand to say his name because I relive the moment of seeing his blood stained on cement his body as cold as ice . They say justthink about the Good times and i try I swear I do but then reality kicks my ass because I will NEVER have that chance again to laugh with him cry with him cuss him out when he calls from jail help him pick out clothes pick out the ladies. But ill Never forget about how he loved his family cherished us like the Finest gold . I can't even continue the tears in my eyes won't even let me keep writing.

This mother has never grow up. She gave birth to innocent children that didn't have a chance to grow and become well adjusted, contibuting members of society. She plays victim even here on this site..."I let people on this site take me out of my godly character". This was a young man the mother and I are probably some where around the same age considering I have a 23 year old. My point...I grew up in the ghetto too. I took advantage of the free education that I was offered. And then went on to to better and better things. Too bad "mom" that you never took advantage of all that was offered to you. Now you sit at a graveside wondering when the person who did this to your son will pay. When in the long run you are the only one that is paying the price for the mistakes that were made a long time ago. When a person makes a choice to bring another living person into this world the responsiblity does not end at popping him out. There is so much more to do. It is a shame that we don't realize the responsiblity does not stop with giving birth to a live person. Too bad we have 18 years to screw him/her up.

The momma gang banging now...wow this is the reason her son was in gangs...and she still hasn't learned from her sons death...I'm CPT certified and I watched the little town boys run around reckless without a care for life...I've seen a lot of S.Town lose their lives over the past 27 years and the cycle continues...dumb women having kids and turning them into dumb gangbangers....get yo mess together and give ur children a chance....u gotta be more responsible ladies and gentlemen....and just to confirm I was all throughout Compton and still visit from time to time but I hate to see a city go through what the CPT is going through...can't no police or city councilman correct the issues the residents have to change themselves first...once again the momma yelling 1200 block STCC...trifling and sorry and I can judge you homegirl
