Markai Jemar Brown, a 38-year-old black man, was shot and killed Thursday, May 23 in the 7500 block of South Main Street in Florence, according to L.A. County coroner's records.

Brown was standing in front of Callero’s Video store with three other men when two people, described in an LAPD police incident report as a "male black" and a "female black," drove up in a light-colored sedan and shot him multiple times.

Brown was pronounced dead by paramedics at 10:08 p.m., according to coroner's records. The men who were standing with Brown fled before officers arrived.

Police believe the motive is gang-related. The suspects, weapon and vehicle have not been found, according to the police report.
