Marquis Wilson, 23

Marquis Wilson, a 23-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, July 9, near South Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue in Hyde Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

The shooting occurred shortly after 4 p.m. at a Shell gas station, Los Angeles police said. Wilson and another man were injured in a drive-by.

Both men were taken to a hospital, where Wilson died and the other man was in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said.

A search was underway for the suspects. A complete description of the suspects was not available.

[Update, Sept. 3, 2013: Reece Matui Forman, 29, has been charged with one count of murder, one count of attempted murder, four counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, and one count of possession for the sale of marijuana, said Jane Robison, a public information officer with the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office.

He pleaded not guilty Aug. 15 and is due in court Sept. 9.]
