Melissa Bryana Gutierrez, 24

Melissa Bryana Gutierrez, a 24-year-old Latina, was shot and killed Saturday, Aug. 12, in the 400 block of South Witmer Street in Westlake, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Gutierrez was found at 10:49 p.m. in the driver’s seat of a gray Nissan sedan that had struck a power pole, Los Angeles Police Det. John Melendez said.

It appears that Gutierrez was shot while driving, and she crashed, Melendez said. Two other people who were in the car were injured in the wreck but are expected to survive.

Gutierrez was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:15 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
