Miaamor Steen, a 5-year-old Latina, was beaten to death Thursday, Sept. 16, in the 3900 block of West Century Boulevard in Inglewood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Authorities were called to the Airport Parkview Hotel regarding “a baby not breathing,” according to the Inglewood Police Department.

Paramedics performed CPR on Miaamor and rushed her to the emergency room of a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The child’s male caretaker, Solomon Douglas Walters, was arrested and booked on suspicion of homicide after a preliminary investigation by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office determined the child died of blunt-force trauma to the head, police said.

Douglas, a 24-year-old black man, is being held at the Men’s Central Jail in downtown in lieu of $1-million bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 4 at Inglewood Municipal Court.

[Update Oct. 1: Officials from the Inglewood Police Department confirmed Miaamor's mother was arrested in connection with her death.

Jennine Steen, a 26-year-old Latina, was taken in by authorities on Sept. 28. According to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office, she has yet to be charged.]

[Update Oct. 8: Miaamor's mother, Jennine, has been charged with one count of murder and one count of child abuse, according to a felony complaint by the Los Angeles County district attorney's office.]
