Michael Anthony Ammons, 50
Michael Ammons, a 50-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, April 22, in the 7400 block of South Figueroa Street in Vermont Knolls, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 6:50 p.m., Ammons was standing in the courtyard of an apartment complex when a vehicle pulled up and a man got out, said Los Angeles police Det. Dave Garrido.
The man initially walked in a direction opposite of Ammons, but then walked back toward the complex and shot Ammons, police said. The gunman then ran back to the vehicle, described only as a compact car, which fled south on South Figueroa Street.
Ammons was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:15 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
