Michael Davis, 21

Michael Davis, a 21-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, April 28, in the 8400 block of South Figueroa Street in Vermont Knolls, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Davis was in a motel room about 2 a.m. when three unknown men burst in and assaulted the victim, according to an LAPD news release.

At some point, one of the assailants shot Davis in the torso and then all three suspects fled the room, police said.

A motel employee was notified about the shooting and called authorities. Paramedics arrived and Davis was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:53 a.m.

Investigators believe the shooting was gang-related. The assailants were described as male blacks in their late teens to early 20s.
