Michael Edward Hernandez, a 18-year-old Latino male, died Thursday, Feb. 28, after being shot in Green Meadows, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Michael was a very smart and ambitious young man. He was very brave and outspoken. He was remarkably funny and just a good person to be around. His personality was refreshing and his positive vibe was contagious. An easy person to befriend and talk to. I remember meeting him in 6th grade. He became a very good friend of mine. We lost touch and found each other again via Facebook and kept in touch briefly throughout high school. He was still the same kid I met years ago. Before he deceased we were supposed to catch up and unfortunately he was taken away before I knew it. I miss Michael very much and I know his family does too. Til this day he is missed so so dearly and I wish he can come back into my life and into the lives of others.
