Michelle Acevedo, 6

Michelle Acevedo, a 6-year-old Latina, was shot and killed by her father Saturday, May 7, in the 1100 block of South Hicks Avenue in East Los Angeles, according to authorities.

Salvador Acevedo, 45, was driving with girlfriend, Iris Osorio Oseguera, and their twins, Michelle and Michael, as well as three other children about 9 p.m. when the two adults began to fight, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Acevedo produced a handgun and shot Oseguera, a 33-year-old Latina, and the twins, striking each victim in the upper torso. He then drove the three other children, described as adolescents, to a relative’s home.

After Acevedo drove away, the children, who were not injured, told an adult about the shooting and authorities were notified.

Sheriff’s deputies located Acevedo’s vehicle and he appeared to have suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He and Oseguera were pronounced dead at the scene. The twins were transported to a local hospital, where they died. A handgun was recovered at the scene.
