Miguel Alvarez Jr., 18

Miguel Alvarez Jr., an 18-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Saturday, Dec. 22, in the 200 block of East Pleasant Street in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Officers responding to the area about 11:19 p.m. discovered Alvarez and another victim with gunshot wounds to the torso, according to a Long Beach Police Department news release.

Paramedics were called, and the victims were taken to the hospital, where Alvarez was pronounced dead. The other victim was listed in stable condition.

During the investigation, detectives learned the two were standing in front of a home when they were shot at several times.

A motive for the killing remains unknown.
