Miguel Padilla, 29
Miguel Padilla, a 29-year-old Latino man, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, five days after he was assaulted at Pacific Coast Highway and Magnolia Avenue in Long Beach, authorities said.
Long Beach police found Padilla with a major head injury after witnesses flagged them down about 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008. Padilla, of Long Beach, was taken to a hospital where he later died.
After the incident, authorities said they did not have a current address for Padilla and were unable to reach any family members to tell them about the attack.
Witnesses who saw the attack described the assailant as a black man between the ages of 25 and 35, 5 feet 9, with shoulder-length hair that may have been braided. Police said they believe the man was driving a dark vehicle similar to a Chrysler 300 or Dodge Charger with chrome rims.
"Because this incident occurred during early evening hours at an intersection busy with pedestrian and vehicular traffic, detectives believe there are more witnesses," police said in a news release.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Long Beach Police Department homicide Dets. Russell Moss or Terri Hubert at (562) 570-7244.
