Mohammed Wayman Wesley, 33

Mohammed Wesley, a 33-year-old black man was shot and killed Saturday, Jan. 2, in the 4600 block of South Crenshaw Boulevard in Hyde Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

About 2:45 a.m., Wesley was shot during a party at a bookstore, said LAPD Det. Dave Garrido. As the party was breaking up, Wesley became involved in a dispute in the back of the store and was shot.

The gunman fled the scene, and when police arrived, many of the partygoers also had left.

Tyshon Wesley went to the scene of the shooting that morning. She described her brother, who was not married, as a good person who looked out for his family.

“The only thing I know is that he was shot from the back, execution-style,” she said.
