Naar Oliver Morris, 39

Naar Oliver Morris, a 39-year-old black man, died Monday, Oct. 23, after he was stabbed in the 4300 block of South Western Avenue in Vermont Square, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 22, Morris and two others were standing outside a home when a fight broke out, Los Angeles Police Det. Dave Garrido said. One of the men went into the house, got a knife and stabbed Morris and a 56-year-old man.

Morris was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:21 p.m. the next day, according to coroner’s records.

The other man was injured but is expected to survive, police said.

Willie Andre Harris, a 47-year-old black man, was charged Oct. 27 with one count of murder with the allegation that he used a knife, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Harris has pleaded not guilty and is due back in court Dec. 14, according to court records.
