Nahun Edgardo Chavez, 34

Nahun Chavez, a 34-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, Jan. 17, in the 140 block of West 73rd Street in Florence, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Someone found Chavez lying on the ground with a gunshot wound in front of a residence about 3 a.m., according to an Los Angeles Police Department news release.

Paramedics were called and he was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead, authorities said. According to coroner's records, Chavez was shot in the neck.

At this time, investigators neither have a description of the assailant, nor a motive for the shooting.
