Nathan Anthony Fernandes, 17
Nathan Anthony Fernandes, a 17-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Thursday, Dec. 19 in the 10700 block of Anzac Avenue in Watts, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s records.
About 7:45 p.m., Fernandes was standing in his front yard when a vehicle traveling north drove up and a person inside began shooting, striking the teenager, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri.
The vehicle continued traveling north on South Anzac Avenue.
Fernandes was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:30 p.m., according to coroner’s records.
It’s unclear why Fernandes was shot.
Police are looking for witnesses.
