A story for every victim

Nathan Trujillo, 2 [Updated]

Nathan Trujillo, a 2-year-old Latino boy, was stabbed several times and died Tuesday, Jan. 26, in the 100 block of South Waterbury Avenue in Covina, authorities said.

Authorities allege Nathan was stabbed by his father.

Alex Trujillo, 28, was arrested Tuesday night after police received a call that he was acting “bizarre and strange.” After they broke in the front door and handcuffed Trujillo, they saw the toddler on the floor covered in blood with multiple stab wounds.

The boy was taken to a hospital, where he died after surgery.

Before police got to the house, Trujillo's mother and brother locked themselves in a back room

“He was pacing in the house, arguing with everybody and seemed to be upset,” said Lt. Tim Doonan of the Covina Police Department. “Something was bothering him.”

Trujillo was in the front yard when police arrived but ran back into the house when he saw the officers. Looking through a window, officers saw Trujillo stabbing himself. They kicked open the front door and handcuffed him after he charged and kicked at them.
