Nelson Giovani Gonzalez Moreira, a 41-year-old Latino, died Tuesday, April 24, after he was shot in the 6200 block of South Figueroa Street in the Vermont-Slauson area of South Los Angeles, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Police responded to a call of a shooting at a tire shop about 4 a.m. April 21, Los Angeles Police Det. Chris Barling said. Officers arrived and found three people had been shot, Barling said.
A 21-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man were pronounced dead at the scene, according to coroner’s records. Gonzalez Moreira was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:58 a.m. three days later, according to coroner’s records.
Police said the shooting occurred at an abandoned tire shop where people sometimes slept and kept personal belongings. There weren’t any eyewitnesses, and police are looking into a potential motive for the shootings.
Each of the victims is believed to have been homeless, police said.
