Nisie Gail McElrath, a 23-year-old black woman, was found dead in December 1985. [Authorities have not provided The Times a location for where her body was discovered or an exact date of death.]
In 1987, awaiting trial for four murders in Alabama, Daniel Lee Siebert confessed to killing McElrath and another woman, Gidget Castro, in Los Angeles, offering details that authorities said only the killer would know.
According to information released at the time, McElrath's body was foundd in a rural area near Castaic.
