A story for every victim

Oliver Duane Adams, 22

Oliver Duane Adams, a 22-year-old black man, was found dead Saturday, Sept. 21, in the 5200 block of East Avenue S-4 in Palmdale, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

Deputies responded about 12:37 a.m. to a call of shots fired at a party near Essex Drive and Hillcrest Drive, said Lt. Dave Coleman with the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.

Partygoers were uncooperative with deputies, who identified shell casings and collected evidence at the scene, Coleman said.

Detectives believe Adams was chased by a shooter or multiple shooters from the party, jumped a fence and collapsed in a backyard because he had been being shot, Coleman said.

The following morning about 9:45 a.m., a resident off East Avenue S-4 let her dogs out and found Adams.

Adams was pronounced dead at 9:54 a.m., said coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter.

Anyone with information can call the Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
