Oscar Daniel Vega, 19

Oscar Vega, a 19-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Monday, April 11, in the 1100 block of Temple Avenue in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

[Editor's note: Long Beach police say Vega was found shot near Anaheim Street and Molino Avenue, which is less than a block from the location the coroner's office listed.]

Long Beach police found Vega with multiple gunshot wounds about 10 p.m., according to a police statement. Officers patrolling the area heard gunshots and located the victim.

Vega was taken by paramedics to St. Mary's Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police do not have a description of a suspect or suspects. Detectives say the shooting is being investigated as gang-related.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call homicide Dets. Hugo Cortes or Peter Lackovic at (562) 570-7244. Callers can remain anonymous.

Oscar Thank you for always looking out for me, I knew what time it was, I knew you had my back, and believe it or not the school we went to was like a CountyJail. You saved my life 4/5x, you did what you had to do to protect ya boy. You were an angel here on earth and I saw that. You proved yourself to God. Thank you oscar for always keeping me safe and making sure I got home in one peace every day after school. You are an angel my boy. No matter how old I get you'll never be forgotten.

Where can i start ma boi, i remember i would always see you posted. At first we bumped heads and then later we were burning blunts EEE. All of us miss you a whole bunch. Every day i naturally talk about you, like when we would be acting BOOL. I will never ever, ever forget you bro.
