Patrick Lister, 31

Patrick Lister, a 31-year-old black man, died Friday, May 18, four days after he was stabbed in the 8100 block of South Avalon Boulevard in Florence, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Lister exited a liquor store May 14 about 6:40 p.m. when he was approached by three unknown men, according to an LAPD news release.

The three men assaulted Lister and took his necklace, police said, and at some point Lister was stabbed in the chest.

The victim was taken by a friend to a hospital, where he remained in critical condition until he succumbed to his injury on May 18.

Investigators said they believe that the motive for the killing was a robbery. They also said they believe that the incident was gang-related.

No arrests have been made in connection with the case.
