Paul Anthony Ponce, 45
Paul Anthony Ponce, a 45-year-old Latino, was fatally stabbed Thursday, Jan. 29, in the 800 block of Flint Avenue in Wilmington, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Ponce was in the back parking lot of an apartment complex having beers with his two adult sons when he got into a dispute with a neighbor over loud music, said LAPD Det. Julie Scruggs.
A shoving match ensued, and punches were thrown. The neighbor then ran up to his second-floor apartment and locked the door.
Ponce, along with his sons, began pounding on the door. The door began to crack. The neighbor armed himself with a knife and repeatedly told the men to leave. The door was pushed open, and Ponce entered the apartment. He was stabbed.
Ponce was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:45 p.m., said Ed Winter, assistant chief of investigations for the coroner’s office.
The neighbor was cooperative. Police are continuing their investigation.
