Pedro Peralta, 42

Pedro Peralta, a 42-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Tuesday, Jan. 31, in the 5300 block of Almont Street in El Sereno, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Peralta was getting home from work about 4:45 p.m. when he saw someone breaking into his wife’s Toyota Corolla in the 3900 block of Barrett Road, said Los Angeles Police Det. Jose Ramirez.

The man ran away, but Peralta chased after him in his car, Ramirez said.

At some point about a block away, Peralta found the man, got out of his car and chased him down the street.

The man pulled out a gun and fired a single shot, striking Peralta. 

Peralta collapsed and was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:10 p.m.
