Pomona woman sentenced in stabbing death
Erica A. Campbell, 27, was sentenced April 23 to 15 years to life in state prison, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
In February, a jury convicted Campbell of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of Markeon Taylor, 24.
Taylor died April 2, 2012, a day after he was stabbed in the chest during an argument at a home in the 1000 block of Patterson Avenue in Pomona.
According to the deputy district attorney, Campbell stabbed Taylor with such force that the knife pierced his heart.
Campbell, who was dating Taylor at the time of the incident, was arrested April 4 and charged with murder.
At the time of his death, Taylor was residing in Tennessee but was in Southern California to attend the trial of those accused of killing his brother. Marquis Leblanc, 18, was killed in 2009 a little more than a mile away from where Taylor was slain.
