Rachelle Washington, a 27-year-old black woman, was shot in the chest at 10610 Budlong Ave. in Westmont and died at 10:27 p.m. Monday, May 7.

A 14-year-old boy was also hit by gunfire in this 9:45 p.m. shooting, and was left in critical condition. The pair were standing in a crowd of dozens associated with a local gang when a light-colored car drove by, and bullets flew. Both victims were transported to hospitals.

This was a beautiful woman inside and out. She was not what former president Regan called a welfare queen (stereotype for a black lazy woman that have babies for a welfafe check! ),she stayed employmed and made good $ to support our family. But still after all this time i can't find the words to express how much of an impact u made on my life. You were always there for me and i for me, but on that night we were many miles apart. I was talking to an old friend, u know one of the one's that used to come by the house when we stayed on budlong and i told him (scrap) that i still loved you and he said " i no y bcuz she stay pickin yo ass up off budlong". His call time was limited, so i could not express these words to him..that I luved u and still love u for much more than you staying down for me in a positive way" the lord knows!" This writer has never been in any real trouble to warrent jail time, so are union was true ! I stay revisting this page hoping for an update or break in this case becuz black lives do matter and this black live was taken from two children in there infant years. They are older now and i guess coping well but i know the love from a child too its mother is priceless and it goes both ways ! But for the coward/s that committed this act, what goes around comes around !!!!! You will always be missed loved one. The blame should be placed on the murder not the victim, which in this case was just stopping by or passing through , with no ties to anything but her family and friends. So for the comment above, the blame should be placed on society and disunity in some parts of the black community to be specific --American for not protecting it's citizens, especially the tax paying one's. In addition, 15 years of pouring $ into a losing war effort in another country, and, when we have war in this country, on these black and minority streets continuing with no end in sight and going on for decades. Back on topic ! Moreover, when u work hard every damn day since the age of 15 y/o and now an adult with her own everything, and you have to go straight home after work, out of fear of being killed (smh !) because black on black crime is rampant , and when America got $ for drones , yet cant keep job in our communities (African American )...who do u blame?! (moment of clarity ). The victim but she's not a victim she is a survivor bcuz his lives on in me and our children. Peace black family!
