Ramon Cortez, 35
Ramon Cortez, a 35-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Thursday, Aug. 8, in the 8700 block of Aqueduct Avenue in North Hills, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 6:30 a.m., Cortez was walking west on Parthenia Street toward Aqueduct Avenue when a car pulled up and a man wearing dark clothing exited and began shooting at him, said Los Angeles police Det. James Fillmore.
Cortez was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:57 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
The car fled north on Aqueduct Avenue from Parthenia, police said.
Cortez, an expecting father, was on his way to work at a moving company, Fillmore said.
Detectives are looking for witnesses.
