Ramon Ramirez, 19, a Latino man, was found shot in the torso at 13121 Avenue Q in Lancaster. His time of death was listed as 1:31 a.m. Sunday, June 17.

Just wanted to post this for my brother’s daughter Jasmine. Hi mija, this is you uncle Fernando. I know you were a baby when your dad passed but we have never stopped thinking about you. Your mom and grandma did not allow us to see you after your dad passed so we have respected their wishes and kept our distance. Just know that we love you and would like to have a relationship with you. My hope is that you can reach out and find us as you get older and want to get to know your dad’s side of the family. My name is Pablo the oldest brother of our family of five three brothers one sister. Ramon my "monch" he was a really special and unique, with a big beautiful heart a big kid, he was my best friend and my little brother, son, and father. He was so young and made mistakes as we all do when were young. He had big dreams once he told me he wanted to preach with his suit and tie and talk to his friends about Jesus. He also wanted to have a big house next to me so we can visit each other and our kids can grow up together. I miss him more than words can describe in his memory I have started a nonprofit called Equipping Fathers&sons I will keep his dream alive and keep his memory alive. I know your at peace now in heaven with mom and my baby boy all of you will be in my heart till we are together again.

Ramon was such an active kid growing up. Our family moved to Lancaster after a major car accident off the Pearblossom Hwy by the aqueduct. When he started hanging out with his gang member friends things went from bad to worse. I do not blame anybody for his actions, my brother struggled to find himself. I am his older brother and I miss his tenacity and passion for life. Although his body has died his spirit lives on forever and I believe we will meet one day.

I heard from the paramedic that was with him after the gun shot that he was talking fine for a couple of hours before he passed. I remember him asking me about Jesus and if God really forgives our wrongs even at the last moments of our life. I told him yes, Jesus paid the price for our sins through his death on the cross and he rose again and he now holds the keys of hell and the power over death. I hope he gave his life to God before he passed, guess I'll find out when my time is up.
