Ramon Reyes, 17

Ramon Reyes, a 17-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Monday, Dec. 13, in the 800 block of West 43rd Street in Vermont Square, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Police received a call reporting shots fired about 9 p.m., said LAPD Southwest Division Det. D. Dilkes, who is handling the investigation.

When authorities arrived, they found Reyes shot in the torso. Paramedics were called and he was pronounced dead at the scene, Dilkes said.

Investigators have not made an arrest in connection with the case and do not have a description of the assailant.

Detectives are still trying to determine if the shooting was gang-related.
