Randolph John Morales, 51
Randolph John Morales, a 51-year-old Latino, died Monday after he was struck and dragged by a car in the 500 block of North Azusa Avenue in Valinda, near La Puente, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
Morales and his girlfriend, Sharon Kay Hood, 52, were staying at the Azusa Inn and got into an argument about 2:24 a.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Eddie Hernandez.
Hood decided to leave and went to her car with a family member who had also been in the room, Hernandez said.
Investigators have conflicting information about what happened next, Hernandez said, but witnesses said Morales ran out of the room and stood behind the car to try to prevent Hood from leaving.
Hood allegedly accelerated and backed over Morales, dragging him several feet, Hernandez said.
Morales was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:35 a.m., according to coroner’s records.
Hood was arrested on suspicion of murder, Hernandez said.
