Saul Rodriguez, a 20-year-old Latino, was beaten and stabbed Thursday, April 14, near Dronfield Avenue and Astoria Street in Sylmar, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.
About 3 p.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call regarding a victim of assault, according to a news release from the department. Officers found Rodriguez with several stab wounds.
Investigators determined that Rodriguez was walking his cousin home from school when he was confronted by multiple people who jumped out of a vehicle and began to beat and stab him, LAPD Det. Dave Peteque said.
The assailants then ran to the vehicle. Paramedics took Rodriguez to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
