Raylond Lamar Hughley, 24

Raylond Lamar Hughley, a 24-year-old black man, died Sunday, July 14, after being shot in the 4600 block of West Don Miguel Drive in Baldwin Hills-Crenshaw, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

Hughley left a party after getting into a dispute shortly before midnight July 13, said Det. Dave Garrido with the LAPD’s Southwest Division. Hughley got into his car, and a person walked up and asked where he was from, Garrido said.

Hughley said he wasn’t from a gang and was shot; the gunman then fled in a light-colored car, Garrido said.

Hughley died at the scene at 12:26 a.m., moments before an ambulance was set to take him to the hospital, according to coroner’s records.

Police are looking for witnesses. Anyone with information can call the LAPD’s criminal gang homicide division at (213) 485-4341.

A mother's love for the loss of her child is irreplaceable. We should never have to bury our own children, unless its natural causes. I miss him too.! He use to come into my office and sit and speak on life an how to handle himself with the ladies and his future to become a man. I can still see his face and smile, he never disrespected me or my advice, and still the life was taken from us to soon. I don't have the words to say what I feel, just that the loss is greatly felt and I hope that God continues to patch your broken heart, and you live on to express your motherly love in memory of my men tee and friend! Raylond. I have been reflecting on causes and affects in my life, and this affected me dearly as a father, a son, a friend and parent. How long must we grieve, before society says " enough is enough', Stop the Killing and Do Your Neighbor No Harm"
