Raymond Lee Lawson, 58

Raymond Lee Lawson, a 58-year-old black man, was shot and killed Saturday, Feb. 22, near Halldale Avenue and West 83rd Street in Manchester Square, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.

About 6:55 p.m., Lawson and a 55-year-old man were at a stop sign in a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban when a person walked up to the driver’s-side window and fired multiple rounds into the vehicle, said Los Angeles Police Det. Dave Garrido.

Both Lawson and the passenger were struck by the gunfire. The SUV rolled into a parked van. 

Paramedics responded and pronounced Lawson dead at the scene. The passenger is expected to survive. 

Police believe the gunman got into a dark SUV and fled.
