Reseda man sentenced for accidentally shooting friend
A Reseda man pleaded no contest Nov. 9 to fatally shooting a woman near a Tarzana hiking trail, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Herbert Gonzalez, 21, was sentenced to eight years in state prison in connection with the fatal shooting of Angela Hernandez, 24.
On Dec. 4, 2016, Gonzalez, Hernandez and a group of friends were walking near Vanalden Avenue with plans to shoot a handgun along the trail, prosecutors said.
After returning to their vehicle, Gonzalez accidentally discharged the weapon, shooting Hernandez, who was in the front seat, prosecutors said.
Gonzalez also pleaded to an unrelated incident where he shot a car on Sept. 19, 2016.
