Richard Arthur Tafoya Jr., 30

Richard Arthur Tafoya, a 30-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Sunday, May 15, in the 11800 block of Ashworth Street in Artesia, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s records.

Tafoya was walking about a block from his home around 7:38 p.m. when he was shot, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. John Corina. Deputies found Tafoya lying in the driveway of a home.

Paramedics took Tafoya to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:37 p.m., with a gunshot wound to the head, according to coroner’s records.

Investigators have no information about the shooter or a motive, Corina said.

“We have no witnesses who saw the shooting,” he said. “We just got reports that gunshots were heard, and then a report about a gunshot victim."
