Richard Quintana Becerra, 38

Richard Becerra, a 38-year-old Latino, died Sunday, Oct. 30, near Passons Boulevard and Telegraph Road in Downey, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Witnesses told sheriff's deputies that Becerra and Alfredo Campos Jr., a 38-year-old Latino, got into a fight about 1:15 a.m. Campos got into his car and then ran Becerra over, according to a statement released by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

A deputy on patrol nearby arrived as Campos was fleeing, according to the sheriff's statement. Deputies stopped Campos at Slauson Avenue and Boer Street in an unincorporated section of Whittier and arrested him on suspicion of murder.

Campos, of Rancho Cucamonga, is being held in lieu of $1-million bail at the Men's Central Jail in downtown. His next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 6 at the Whittier Municipal Court.
