Man sentenced to 80 years to life for shooting woman in Pico Rivera

A man was sentenced March 28 to 80 years to life in state prison for shooting a woman to death in front of her Pico Rivera home in 2013, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

On Feb. 23, a jury found Richard Pallan, 32, guilty of first-degree murder in the killing of Jessica Adella Gomez, 27.

Another defendant, Cecilia Gallegos, 30, pleaded no contest to being an accessory after the fact on Feb. 1, 2016. She is scheduled to sentenced on May 23.

Prosecutors said that on June 26, 2013, Gallegos drove Pallan to Gomez’s home. Pallan exited the vehicle and shot Gomez in front of her residence, prosecutors added,

After the shooting, Pallan returned to the car and Gallegos drove away, according to prosecutors.

Neighbors heard the shooting and called 911. Gomez was taken to a hospital where she later died, according to coroner’s records.

Two months later, L.A. County sheriff’s deputies arrested Pallan after witnesses identified him as the shooter.
