Robert Hernandez, a 20-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, Dec. 12 near South Figueroa and West 110th streets in Vermont-Vista, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s records.

About 7:30 p.m., Hernandez was walking north on South Figueroa Street with another person when someone shot at him, said Los Angeles Police Det. Nathan Kouri.

Hernandez was wounded in the back. The person accompanying Hernandez ran away and was not injured, Kouri said.

Hernandez was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:16 p.m., according to coroner’s records.

The gunman ran south on Figueroa Street and out of view, police said.
