A story for every victim

Robert Lee Hayes, 50

Robert Lee Hayes, a 50-year-old black man, was found with stab wounds Friday, Jan. 27, in the 600 block of Gladys Avenue in downtown Los Angeles, according to L.A. County coroner’s records.

Shortly before 8:45 a.m., a person in the area noticed that Hayes was motionless inside the tent where he usually slept, said Los Angeles Police Det. Doug Pierce.

The person called authorities who discovered that Hayes had a stab wound to the chest. Hayes was pronounced dead at 8:45 a.m.

Police believe Hayes was stabbed in a different location because they didn’t observe any signs of a struggle inside the tent, Pierce said.

Authorities are looking for additional witnesses.

Anyone with information is asked to call Pierce at (213) 996-1879. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
