Robert Melton Colvin, 39

Robert Melton Colvin, a 39-year-old white man, was fatally shot by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies on Friday, May 29, in the 1700 block of West Avenue K in Lancaster, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records.

At 7:48 p.m., deputies patrolling the Lancaster Station area saw a man walking east on the sidewalk, according to a news release from the department. 

Deputies approached the man and said they saw a “firearm in his hand.”  

Deputies got into an altercation with Colvin, who was “taken to the ground, during which time a deputy-involved shooting occurred.” 

Colvin was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

Authorities said a replica firearm was found at the scene.
